Hello, Friends! In case you all missed my posts on Instagram and Facebook, I released my very first pattern today! It's called the Sage Baby Blanket and if you want to purchase it, you can find the pattern on both Etsy and Ravelry!

Today, I just thought I would take some time to talk about this pattern. First and foremost, this is my very first published pattern. You heard that right, my very first! To say I'm nervous is an understatement. This is something that God has led my heart into, but fear creeps in. Right now, I'm afraid of failure. I'm afraid that nobody is going to like my pattern. I'm afraid that I'm going to regret publishing the pattern.

But I did it.

I still published this pattern despite my fear. I don't know what's going to happen unless I try and take this risk. I'm definitely not going to let fear win. Jesus is King over my heart. God has led my heart into taking the risk of quitting my job and to start designing. So what did I do once I published the pattern?

I kept knitting, kitten.

There are so many designers that I admire, people who have also taken this risk. I've had so much encouragement and support from people in the knitting community and out of the knitting community. I'm so thankful for each and every one of you who read this blog! You are all truly a blessing!

Okay, now back to what this post is about. So, the Sage Baby Blanket, the aforementioned first pattern, is a blanket I designed for a dear friend of mine due this week. Because I love making handmade gifts, I texted her in May and asked, "What gender is your baby? I would love to make a baby blanket for him or her". Instead of giving me the gender, she told me the colors she would like the blanket in, Spearmint Green and Gray. Immediately, I knew I wanted to design my own blanket for her, so I went on Pinterest, grabbed a notebook and a pen and started brainstorming. Right away, I knew I wanted to do a blanket cable-related. Originally, the blanket was going to be completely made out of cables. But as I started knitting cables, I personally felt like there needed to be more in it. Finally, I found a pattern for a heart lace fabric and I fell in love! I was working a full-time job when I started knitting the blanket, meaning the blanket took me around three weeks to finish. The blanket is made out of panels, alternating with Celtic cable and heart lace panels. After I finished the panels, I whip-stitched the panels together to sew them together and create the blanket.

My test knitting group was AWESOME! I received so much positive feedback on the pattern and people complimenting the blanket itself. I'm so thankful for each and everyone of them!

Above is a photo of a test knitter's interpretation of Sage. I am in love with these colors and how they complement each other so well! Aren't they amazing?

I'm really excited, yet nervous about this publication. All I know is that no matter what happens, I know God has a plan and I know that in one way or another, He is going to bless this business.

Thank you so much for reading this blog!

Love,

Amanda
